Experienced hunters understand what a difference a good hunting knife can make in the field. A high-quality hunting knife, like any other hunting gear, should be treated as an investment and cared for properly so it can last for years.
For starters, it's important to keep in mind that a knife should only be used as it was intended--not as a hammer, screwdriver, hatchet, ice pick or throwing knife (unless it is a throwing knife). Using a knife for any other purpose could permanently damage the blade and cause the warranty to become void.
You should also keep your knife sharp, for safety as well as efficiency. A sharp knife requires less force, reducing the likelihood of accidental injury.

Ever wonder how to make buttermilk from milk on your own? There are 2 ways to make buttermilk, and they will produce 2 different outcomes. The first outcome you will get is a substitute for buttermilk, which will taste equally great; however the texture will be slightly different. The second outcome will be of course, the real buttermilk, fresh and ready-made.
Since the 1st way is the easiest, I will start from it.
1st Recipe (To get a substitute for buttermilk)
Ingredients that you will need:
* 1 cup of milk
* 1 tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice
Material that you will need:
* 1 cup measuring cup
That's it! Only 2 ingredients & 1 material are needed and...
Let's start making!
1. Place the white vinegar or lemon juice into the measuring cup.
2. Pour the milk into the measuring cup (together with the white vinegar/lemon juice).
3. Wait for 5 minutes.

1. Pour the cultured buttermilk into the clean quart container.
2. Fill the rest of the container with the whole milk.
3. Screw the lid tightly and shake well.
4. Place the container in a warm corner of your house.
5. Wait for 24 hours.
6. The buttermilk will thicken and coat the glass of the container.
7. The buttermilk is now done and can be kept for weeks!
It will be advisable to put the date that your buttermilk was made on the container to serve as a note. And you will roughly know when the buttermilk will expire.

In the fall put the autumn leaves on. A fine lot of goodness is being fixed for another season.

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned bait maker there is always more you can learn and the potential to discover new secrets is always ongoing because even top fish scientists admit they are far from knowing it all! To improve your readymade baits or be able to make homemade baits that perform equally or even better than the vast majority of readymade baits takes technical knowledge and loads of field testing on a range of waters right through the year. But one thing is for sure – we all have to start somewhere; so why not begin with big fish bait recipes and read on now!
The history of the modern phenomenon of boilie making could be said to go back many hundreds of years or thousands of year because high protein baits have been used in fishing for millennia. A guy called Fred Wilton did something unusual in that he took the essential needs of carp in particular and built his boilie and paste baits on essential fish needs to maximise possibilities that fish would need to consume his baits to top up their natural foods right through the year if possible. I personally think that high nutritive baits are just one option and I combine aspects of very instantly attractive and addictive substances chosen very specifically in my homemade baits and in fact do not aim to make a complete so-called food bait with balanced amino acids etc because it is simply not that vital to do this to catch fish - even against baits made like this!
There was a time when caseins were the basis of high nutritive fishing baits, backed up by other caseinates plus other ingredients and additives to supply a broader range of nutrition and additional stimulation and attraction, such as liver and yeast powders and so on. Very many anglers were hooked on the idea of using baits based on milk protein ingredients, from the sixties until the rising popularity of fish meal baits utilising soluble fish protein etc that occurred around the middle of the early to the mid nineteen-nineties – at least in my area of the UK which was Essex. Fish meals were more in favour in part because they were much cheaper than the increasingly costly milk proteins, but also because things like the cheaper bird food baits prove that you do not need to spend a fortune to make highly successful HNV or balanced nutrition baits.
Although fish meal baits came more into prominence in the nineties, bird food and milk protein type HNV baits were not the only forms of nutritional baits as there are endless variation, and the success of flavour-over-dosed baits and fake baits show that many other options also exist. Fish such as carp or catfish can be trained like dogs or humans for that matter to come back for more food when it is introduced to them regularly. Where baits contain particularly stimulating nutrition and bioactive factors then baits can be extremely successful – even if you are only an average angler. HNV type baits can be an excellent leveller of results even against better more talented and experienced anglers when you regularly apply them over time - which is a major reason I prefer to make my own unique economical ones and because this is a long-proven big fish tactic for both big carp and catfish and other species too!
Maybe as a beginner you have heard of a few baits and ingredients but the very best point to begin your bait making designs from is the fish. Learning about fish might sound boring until you know a bit more and seriously begin to appreciate the massive power it can give you in your fishing even against better more experienced more talented anglers – for the rest of your life. Like in the old saying knowledge is power, but in this case knowledge of fish senses, internal processes and how bait substances can exploit and manipulate and boost such things like digestion and energy for instance is extremely well proven to lead to catches of very many big fish that make other anglers jealous!
When you begin bait making learning about fish first then it is very much easier to select a range of bait ingredients, additives, special enhancers, palatants, flavours, digestion boosters, addictive and habit-forming substances etc with absolute confidence! To write about bait in depth takes a depth of personal experience and catches from experimenting with bait substances and various combinations and levels etc over many years and my bait making days began for me around the age of 7 back in the early seventies. Many new bait substances are available now that really seriously boost catch results and because these substances are so potent you do not need to use much of them.
In the old days milk protein baits were used very sparingly by most anglers because for one thing they were very high in protein so the fish did not need to eat many before getting full; and anyway, they worked instantly on the vast majority of waters. When fish meal baits came into prominence it was the relatively new tactic of dumping many kilograms of boilies into a swim to draw and hold the fish. Please do not get the idea that you need to make hundreds of kilograms of homemade boilies to catch big fish because just a handful of extremely potent homemade baits are always be just as good as any pricy readymade bait when you fish them in the right spot with a suitable rig!
The major reason why you can have absolute confidence in your own unique homemade baits and recipes is because preferably you will have studied the fish in detail in terms of the many factors that you can potentially exploit to manipulate their feeding modes, feeding habits, feeding intensity and location and so on. I spent a very long time putting this kind of information all into my ebooks to make this far quicker and easier to understand, and to put into practice in formulating your own unique baits that catch fish again and again. Now I will provide you with a simple homemade bait recipe for big fish that will kick start you on the bait-making road - or will give you something a little bit different if you already have some experience!

Ice cream has a great power on dessert all over the world. There are many varieties of traditional dishes available along with several cultures and with small- small differences. However, ice cream itself has personalized to tastes from the entire world.
Ice cream comes into two basic types, one is custard and another is American. American ice cream is made without the egg and with the help of custard, custard ice cream is made. If you need to make the custard then procedure is like this: full eggs or egg yolks are mess up together with warm milk cream or milk along with sugar and then cook lightly till it become thick and sufficient to coat the backside of a spoon. The custard should be chill for the minimum one hour prior to freezing. On the other hand if you want to prepare for the American recipe then you need to combine sugar and milk and stir that until the sugar dissolves, here the milk need not necessarily be hot. You require putting that paste overnight to become chill before keeping it in the ice cream maker. Before serving the American ice cream it needs to be chilled at least for two hours.
Here we will see the basic recipe for custard ice cream in brief:
Stuffs you will require for custard ice cream:
1. Thick cream - 1/4 spoon
2. Milk - 1 and quart cup
3. Divided vanilla bean & tattered -1
4. White sugar -1 and 1/4 cups,
5. Egg yolks -10
6. Vanilla extract -1 tablespoon
Procedure:
1. First you need to mix cream and milk in a heavy pot on medium heat.
2. Vanilla bean should be split. You should put vanilla bean and scrapings in pan with adding half the sugar. Let the pan just heat and previous to a boil take it down.
3. By the same time mess up the egg yolks along with sugar which left over for the meantime and take out vanilla in another bowl.
4. After heated the cream properly, put 1/3 into the blend of egg and mess up softly & quickly. The egg mixture you should pour into the hot cream which is left over and again put for the heat till the blend coats the backside of a spoon however need not boil.
5. Sprain and then chilled, till it become cold, now put into the container of ice cream maker and do it as the instructions of the manufacturer.
6. Now you check it and see if the mixture became thick and hard then stir and take out from the ice cream maker and move it into the freezer pot.
7. Leftover ice cream you can store in an airtight container along with a pressed coat of plastic cover over the surface to avoid by absorption.

Don't get in a hurry
Do not get yourself into a hurry when smoking meat. Good BBQ, and all good food for that matter, takes time and patience. You simply can't rush into it. Allow around 1 to 1 1/2 hours per pound for most meats. If you are using a wood-burning smoker, factor in the addition of more fuel every thirty minutes or so.
Keep the lid shut!
One of the most common, and possibly worst mistakes that new users make when using a smoker, is opening the lid too often during cooking. This lets out the heat and the smoker will be below temperature. You should only raise the lid when absolutely necessary to mop or reposition the meat.
Keep it simple
There is a great temptation to cook expensive cuts of meat on a brand new smoker, such as racks of ribs, game or brisket. When starting out, choose an inexpensive cut of meat such as pork or whole chicken. The path to cooking top quality Q takes time, so start off easy, use cheap cuts, and learn from your mistakes.
If you have time to yourself, buy yourself a few whole chickens and cook one at a time, while monitoring the temperatures you are using, the control of the vents, noting the smell of the smoke, and so on. You will easily be able to guage the differences between the birds you have cooked, and this knowledge will prove invaluable as you branch out into smoking other meats.
Lighter fluids ruin good meat
Do not use lighter fluids to start off charcoal fuel. While it is time saving, lighter fluid is responsible for unpleasant odors in your smoked meat. It is strongly recommended that charcoal users should use a chimney starter for charcoal. Imagine the smoke permeating the meat and adding plenty of great flavor, and then consider the fumes from lighter fluid doing the same thing. Using lighter fluid makes no sense at all if great flavor is what you want.
Keep a close eye on wood burners
When using a wood burning smoker, avoid closing the inlets and exhausts to control the flame when the fire is big. Open the exhaust all the way and control the intake of air with the inlet control. Take care when closing the inlet as the fire can smolder and give you some unpleasant tasting smoke. Always keep the fire down and the dampers wide open. Note: If the smoke smells bad, then so will your meat!
